The Yorkshire Dales lie almost centrally in the country and straddles the Pennine Hills. There are 1,458km of footpaths, 625km of bridleways and 31km of byways open to all traffic in the park as well as 100,000 hectares of open access land. The Yorkshire Dales has a range of natural habitats, a rich cultural heritage and outstanding scenery.
It’s not only a haven for wildlife but also fantastic outdoor arena for recreation. The Pennine Way, one of England’s “National Trails” passes through the Dales on its route tracing the rugged backbone of England.
